On a recent visit to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow, Widows Sons Solomon's Guard Grand Chapter had the honour of presenting a cheque for £500 to Ward 1E, a gesture warmly received by the hospital and its staff.

Chapter Treasurer, Steve “Donkey” McKenzie, personally delivered the cheque to Ross Clift, who accepted it on behalf of the hospital, in recognition of the Chapters' ongoing support for local causes.

This generous donation was part of a broader effort by the WSSGGC to support communities across Scotland. It came from the impressive £2,500 raised during a charity motorbike run across the country held in late August 2024.

The ride brought together chapter members and supporters from far and wide, all dedicated to making a difference in the lives of children and families who rely on the specialised care offered at Glasgow’s Royal Hospital for Children.

Ward 1E, known for its tireless dedication to providing exceptional paediatric care, relies on donations like these to fund resources, improve patient experiences, and bring a little extra joy to children and families during challenging times.

The Chapters' contribution will support initiatives that make the hospital environment more comfortable and comforting for young patients and their families.

The charity motorbike run, which saw participants traverse some of Scotland's most breathtaking landscapes, is one of several fundraising activities organised by the Widows Sons Solomon's Guard Grand Chapter each year. Known for blending their passion for motorbikes with a strong commitment to community service, the Widows Sons have become synonymous with charitable giving, particularly in support of children’s health initiatives and medical facilities.

Steve “Donkey” McKenzie expressed gratitude on behalf of the chapter, emphasising the importance of supporting local healthcare services.

"We’re proud to contribute to Ward 1E and the incredible work they do every day. The funds we raise on these rides reflect our commitment to helping those in need and making a positive impact, especially in children’s healthcare.”

As part of an international organisation of Freemasons who are motorcycle enthusiasts, the Widows Sons Solomon's Guard Grand Chapter has established a reputation for giving back.

Their blend of fellowship and philanthropy enables them to extend support to numerous causes across Scotland and beyond, all while fostering camaraderie among members and building bridges within their communities.

The Royal Hospital for Children expressed deep appreciation for the donation, noting that the generosity of organisations like the Widows Sons makes a lasting difference in their mission to provide compassionate and comprehensive care.
