The Guards Roll into Loanhead Gala 2025

This past weekend, the Widows Sons Solomon’s Guard Scotland were honoured to attend the Loanhead Gala — a long-standing community event full of colour, pride and tradition.
We were invited along by our good friends and brethren from Lodge St Leonards Loanhead and Lasswade No. 580, and it was our privilege to support them throughout the day.
Events like this are a fantastic opportunity for us to help bring Freemasonry into the public eye, showcasing the fraternity’s commitment to community, connection, and brotherhood.

One of the highlights of the day was seeing the sheer number of families, children, and curious adults who came over to the stand. Bikes were sat on, photos were snapped, and smiles were everywhere.
The stand was buzzing with activity all afternoon — and RWM Mark McLuskey summed it up perfectly when he said how happy he was to see the Guards there, and even happier to see so many smiling faces around the stall.
Special mention also goes to Bro. Keith Forrest, who brought along his impressive racing sidecar, drawing even more attention and fascination from visitors of all ages.
The level of interaction between the public, the Guards, and the brethren was truly heartwarming — proof that Freemasonry remains a living, breathing part of our communities here in the Lothians.
To top it all off, the weather held, the sun made an appearance, and a great day was had by all.
A huge thanks to Lodge St Leonards 580 for the invitation and camaraderie, and to everyone who stopped by for a chat, a photo, or just to say hello. Freemasonry was proudly on show, and we were delighted to play our part.
Until next time — ride safe and support each other.
